FAT Recovery

FAT recovery, file allocation table recovery, is the process of recovering a hard disk drive, HDD, that was formatted accidentally or recovering data loss due to hardware or human error. What is FAT exactly? FAT drives can be formatted into four different cluster sizes. These are FAT12, 16, 32 and a virtual file allocation table, VFAT. What can someone do to perform a FAT recovery if something happened that made it impossible to boot your computer system or to obtain access to your data files. First and foremost, do NOT do anything else to your computer hard drive. Anything that is attempted can cause total loss of your data or irreversible recovery to you FAT drive. Obtaining software that is created for this reason needs to be run immediately to attempt successful recovery to your FAT drive. Running this software will attempt a recovery of deleted, formatted or damaged data and/or drives. Immediate attempts are vital to success due to anything that is written on the drive, after a data loss, can overwrite much needed data, preventing a recovery. Another way to try to perform a FAT recovery is to connect your computer to another computer. Sometimes a damaged hard drive will not perform during a normal boot up yet may be accessed by connecting another computer to it. In the Administrative Tools, under the Control Panel, there is a section called Computer Management. After connecting the hard drive to another computer you can try to connect, analyze and hopefully recover any damaged data. This FAT recovery technique is free and does work in many cases. In the most critical cases where commercial software and/or connection to another computer does not allow data to be recovered, or a FAT recovery is not obtainable, many times taking the system to a computer technician that specializes in this sort of thing would be the way to go. Not only do technicians have all types of software to recover your data, they have other ways to attempt to connect to your hard drive to fix it also.
